Welcome to 2026

Welcome to 2026!

As the festive glow and sparkle of the December season fades and we settle into the introspective quiet of winter, we find ourselves entering a natural period for reflection, evaluation, and deliberate planning. This shift in pace is, perhaps, the truest impetus behind the tradition of making New Year’s resolutions. The calm before the storm of spring!

The year 2025 was a true whirlwind, a period that seemed to gather speed and intensity right up until its final moments. For our office, it was a pivotal year dedicated to internal growth and refinement. We successfully implemented significant structural changes designed to enhance our service delivery, ensuring we can meet our clients’ ambitious goals more efficiently and effectively than ever before. This wasn't merely a matter of tweaking procedures; it was a deep-dive examination of our entire operational philosophy. We scrutinized not only what we do and how we execute our work, but, most critically, we reaffirmed why we commit ourselves to the design process.

In retrospect, 2025 served as a year-long, comprehensive editing process for the firm. This rigorous internal critique has positioned us better than ever to serve our clients by making them, and their vision, the absolute and undivided focus of our efforts. While this extensive restructuring and process overhaul required considerable time and energy throughout the past year, the long-term result will be a firm that is substantially more responsive, focused, and adaptable to future challenges.

A major component of this foundational work was the comprehensive evaluation and critique of our existing website. The site, which was initially launched in 2019, had inevitably aged. A close, honest look revealed that it no longer accurately reflected, nor did it fully align with, the current mission, capabilities, and philosophy of our firm. Consequently, we explored two distinct pathways: a complete re-build from a blank slate, or an evolution of the existing framework. In keeping with the core principle of renovation and thoughtful adaptation that defines our design firm, we opted for the evolutionary approach. We recognized that the site’s underlying 'bones' were fundamentally sound; they simply required strategic re-arrangement, careful refinement, and thoughtful tweaking to successfully convey a fresh, new, and current experience.

While visitors will find that much of the core portfolio material remains familiar, we consciously and meticulously edited every element—the text, the imagery, and the organization—to provide an unmistakably clearer, more precise picture of who Ross Design Architects are today and what we passionately dedicate ourselves to doing. For any client, colleague, or friend who hasn’t explored the site in a while, we warmly invite you to navigate the refreshed pages and explore the work we have been immersed in. We are genuinely eager to receive your feedback on the new look and functionality.

All of this internal work and the focus on refinement has profoundly shaped my personal perspective, leading directly to my resolution for 2026: to continue this essential process of rigorous self-examination. Specifically, I resolve to become a more critical and conscientious editor in all aspects—in my professional design work, in my client interactions, and in my daily life. After all, at its heart, the process of editing—of eliminating the non-essential and sharpening the focus—is truly the most vital part of the design process itself.

Happy New Year!

Robert.
